The Pharmacist vs. the Corporate Puppet Master

by | Mar 1, 2018 | Career

The villain started with the idea of a doctor in a drive-thru.

It was perfect: reducing the talents of a healthcare professional to operating a mechanical window and interacting with angry customers.

Then he switched his attention to all the metrics you’re failing to meet, while cleverly overlooking his own failure to provide the necessary tools to achieve them.

He regularly turns a blind eye to bullying and laziness across the workforce, and he exclusively focuses on numbers and metrics to the complete exclusion of patients and health.

He has reduced your job to one simple measurement. He doesn’t allow himself to be distracted by vague ideas of helping patients and improving lives.

He is the Corporate Pharmacy Puppet Master.

He is the mortal enemy of every practicing pharmacist. He is the primary cause of your job dissatisfaction, and the reason you feel like you have no control over your own destiny.

He’s also a liar.

He has fooled you into believing you have no control over your own future because he doesn’t want you to know the truth: You’re in complete control, and you’re in a prime position to make him sit up and take notice.

I realize it runs counter to everything you believe to be true about our pharmacy job market.

But this villain's success relies on your willingness to continue to be a puppet.

As long as you’re willing to allow him to call the shots, he can control every aspect of your day.

His mistake is that he underestimates you.

He has lost sight of the fact that you sacrificed a lot of years learning the pharmacy profession.

He doesn’t understand your desire to help people and your refusal to accept the status quo.

Most importantly, he believes you don’t care about fulfilling work.

I, however, understand your plight, because I’ve worked for him before. I labored in his dysfunctional workplace among a group of people who distrusted each other. I doubted my own abilities because he set me up for failure.

He convinced me that I chose the wrong profession.

I eventually stopped listening to the corporate puppet master and explored my own career options, and I discovered there were many.

After discovering that truth for myself, I committed myself to help other pharmacists do the same.

I am spearheading a movement to beat back the Corporate Puppet Master.

I want him to worry about all the pharmacists who are refusing to stay in unfulfilling jobs.

I want to force him to improve working conditions and increase pay to compensate for difficult jobs.

I want to send an unequivocal message that pharmacists have options and they are cutting the strings that he uses to control them.

My motivation?

The knowledge that pharmacy comes with a high price tag.

The suicide rate among retail pharmacists is higher than it is among the general population and there are no signs of improvement.

Too many pharmacists hate their jobs, hate their bosses, hate their teams, and (sometimes) hate who they serve. Unless we change something, we risk falling into that dark place as well.

I’ve created step-by-step guides to point pharmacists toward unique work that provides fulfillment and satisfaction. I’m well-versed at helping pharmacists establish healthy careers doing work they love doing.

When Justine contacted me for help, she was 7 months into an unsuccessful job search. She and I began by crafting an attention-grabbing cover letter, and within a month, she received four job offers.

Five years ago, my own life changed when I hired a coach. As a result of that decision, I’ve started three businesses, paid off my home in three years, and I’m 100 percent debt free.

Coaching change my life, and I’m convinced it can change yours too.

I’m passionate about helping pharmacists move into fulfilling careers, either within retail pharmacy or in non-traditional pharmacy roles.

I’m so convinced of the power of coaching that I want to invite you to a free one-on-one coaching session where you and I will identify your goals and talk through possible next steps.

We’ll create a game plan for you based on the things you hope to accomplish, and we’ll get you moving on a path to happiness.

Your only investment is the time it takes to complete this application and submit it to me.

You have no obligation to continue working with me as a coach, but we’ll both have the option to move forward if our partnership is a good one.

You have everything at your disposal to find work that makes you happy. You have access to all the tools you need to end your dread of Mondays.

Together, you and I can neutralize the power of the Corporate Puppet Master. We can wrestle his power from him and return it to the community of pharmacists who have worked so hard to succeed in this industry.

None of us can do it alone. Join me today.
