2019 Q2 Review – A Life Goal

by | Sep 5, 2019 | General, HPD Updates

Technically, two months late, but I was on a 10 week Sabbatical and couldn’t bring myself to work on this during our trip!

Quarter 2 of 2019 was a fantastic, challenging, and disappointing in some ways. I’d like to breakdown what happened at The Happy PharmD and how we’ve grown over the second quarter of the year.

First, let's review my goals for Quarter 2.

2019 Quarter 2 Goals Results

Quarter 2 created more delays than I anticipated.

10,000 Registered for our free event: The Happy PharmD Summit

Our summit was delayed twice due to improper planning on my part. We will launch our summit September 30th, and it will go until October 4th.

Twenty-five speakers will share their career journeys and how other pharmacists can do the same. Excited to have 10,000 pharmacists see this event!

Help 80 Pharmacists transition into new jobs

Sixty-two new pharmacists started their career transformation journey with us (20 more pharmacists than Q1!)

Launch a podcast

The podcast hasn’t launched but is in post-production. We will begin with about ten episodes (Netflix style) but then have weekly episodes there-after.

Launch a Continued Education Course

Our Continued Education course about burnout was pushed back until September 10th on FreeCE.com.

 Sabbatical

A resounding success! My family and I left June 17th to travel the country until August 21st. Nearly ten weeks of freedom.

It was great. It was fulfilling. A once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. However, we were happy to be back home.

New Developments

Merge Somes joined our team as our Chief Operations Officers. She helps The Happy PharmD run smoothly and was essential during our family sabbatical.

Q2 Lessons Learned

A new identity

What holds back the company is me. I get in my way so quickly. Whether thru distractions or ego or doubt, I avoid accomplishing my goals.

These issues continued to come up in my first year of business. So like a good coach, I hired a coach!

I was able to work with a man I respect, both in business and life: David Sherry, founder of Deathtostockphoto.com. He helped me find my sweet spot in my day-to-day work.

A great coach will help you create the change you desire without just giving you all the answers.

2019 Quarter 3 Goals

10,000 Registered for our free event: The Happy PharmD Summit

I hired another event planner and marketer to help with this process. I found the details of the event too overwhelming with everything that was needed to promote it.

Help 80 Pharmacists transition into new jobs

Eighty pharmacists seems a bit too high, plus with most of my time away while on sabbatical, I can’t expect an additional roughly 40 pharmacists to join. While I hate adopting a lower goal, realism is essential.

Launch podcast

This one may be a stretch. I expect more realistically this can be achieved by the end of October.

Launch Continued Education Course

Burnout: our profession’s most significant battle yet. FreeCE.com asked me to speak on the subject. You’ll learn what causes burnout and how to bounce back. Sign up here.

Quarter 3 is almost over, so I’m hurriedly attempting to finish all these goals.

What goals do you have for the rest of the year? Love to hear those in the comments. They encourage me to keep pushing!
