2019 Q3 Review – What Holds Me Back

by | Nov 15, 2019 | General, HPD Updates

August 23rd, 2019 marks the one year anniversary of full-time entrepreneurship. I can’t believe this journey I’m on.

If you’ve followed this journey for any amount of time, thank you.

I’m only here because of the pharmacists who trust me. I truly appreciate all who support me through sharing our events, content and success stories.

2019 Quarter 3 Goal Review:

Help 80 Pharmacists transition into new jobs: Miss

64 pharmacists started their new job journey with us. Eighty students was a stretch goal, especially when I was gone for 7 weeks during quarter 3 (sabbatical).

Launch a podcast: Miss

Ugh… post-production takes a lot longer for these podcasts than I anticipated. These are not simple interview podcasts. I put in a lot of research on the problems facing pharmacy, which in turn prolonged our timeline.

10,000 Summit Attendees: Miss

Over 2,500 Pharmacists signed up for our event. I’ll explain more on why I totally bombed on this goal in Lessons Learned.

Launch a Continued Education Course: Double WIN!

Not only did I perform a CE for FreeCE.com, but I also presented at my local state association conference.

Lessons Learned - Alex, you need help...

Ever feel like things are not happening as fast as you want them to?

Yeah, that feeling permeated my 3rd quarter.

Internally, I blamed my contractors.

“Why are things happening so slowly?” I looked to my contractors who weren’t delivering on time. I hated keeping tabs on people to ensure projects were being completed. I’m not a micromanager, and I detest keeping tabs.

Then, through conversations with wise friends, I realized my fatal leadership flaw: Alex, you are great at envisioning the future but bad at executed your ideas

So, in typical Alex fashion, I’m on the hunt for an executive assistant, someone who can help manage me and all of our project management. I have a COO already, but the problem I’m looking to solve is anticipating our company’s needs, and proactively solving them.

Q4 Goals

Launch Podcast

YES! This will happen by December. It’s a promise.

Help 100 pharmacists start a career transition

Yes, we failed to hit our goals for the number of new pharmacists in our programs, but I find that win you aim for the moon, impossible as it seems, if you try hard enough you’ll land in the stars.

Run the first Happy PharmD Charity Hustle

I’m so stoked for this event. We aim to raise $10,000 for funding family adoptions thru the charity ShowHope.org. I talk about this passion in my book Indispensable, but to be simply: Because of my step-father (the man I call Dad), who made me his own son, I see the healing power of adopting unwanted children. What sets my soul on fire is helping families afford adoption (minimum $25,000).

The Happy PharmD will match up to $5,000. Already, we’ve raised over $500.

We will be selling courses and career services at reduced prices in hopes to drive more donations. 100% of the profit will be donated to the adoption fund.

Would you be willing to help us? Our charity event needs advocates! Send me a PM and I would love to discuss how you can help families adopt children!
